Main menu:
Granites are underground igneous rocks. Mineralogical components of granite are above all felspars (orthoclase and plagioclase), quartz, micas (muscovite and/or biotite) and amphibole.
The granite contains also small admixtures of magnetite, garnet, zircon and apatite. Rarely it contains also pyroxene and very rarely by iron rich olivine and fayalite. The stone must contain at least minimum 20% quartz, so that it might be classified as granite.
Company MosaicTech buys granites by four leading suppliers and importers:
Cosentino Austria (Wiener Neustadt),
Severe (Praha and Olomouc),
Stone Connection (Praha and Rožnov p. Radhoštěm)
Stone4You (Hollabrunn).
In their warehouses it is also possible (by colours with outstanding structure it is recommended!) to inspect physically respective slabs.

Advantages and disadvantages by usage as surface material
Advantages:
High heat resistance (after ceramics the second highest)
High hardness and chemical resistance
Disadvantages:
Acceptable absorption, necessary to increase it by impregnation
Colour dissimilarity
Visible joints on longer products necessary (longer than 2.5m)
Cold on touch
Company MosaicTech solves the higher absorption of granites by impregnation; the work is not handed over to the customer without having been impregnated. Higher degree of surface protection is reached by granites of SENSA line from company Cosentino, where the impregnation is realized under a world patent.
