Materials > Large-format ceramics

Large-format ceramics is a 100% natural material sintered under very high temperatures.

Composition: clay, quartz, feldspar ev. other additives. Beside stainless steel it is the most hardest material used in interior (hardness according to Mohs 7-8). The absorption is low (0.1-0.3% ) and therefore the surface is maintenance free and hygienic.
Chemical resistance is excellent. The surface meets the standard 51 NSF/ANSI Standard for contact of the material with foodstuffs, thanks to quite closed surface it does not support bacteria growth at all. It meets the standard GreenGuard Indoor Air Quality Certificate (influence on air quality). The most important parameter is heat resistance that is excellent: min. 400°C.

Mosaictech uses 12 and 20mm ceramics slabs DEKTON, product of company Cosentino.

Advantages and disadvantages by use as surface material

Advantages:

  • Excellent utility parameters especially hardness, heat and chemical resistance
  • 100% natural product

Disadvantages:
  • Visible joints on longer products (longer than 3.2m)
  • Impossibility of rounded edges and forms, the tool for polishing the draining grooves is just under development
  • Insignificantly higher absorption than by engineered stone
